Hopkinton Today: Thursday, Dec. 3

by | Dec 3, 2020 | Hopkinton Today, Z-Lead Image Front Page

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

School Committee members may form a group to consider returning students to school full-time, superintendent Carol Cavanaugh said Wednesday during an appearance on HCAM’s Hopkinton Hangout Hour. However, she reiterated her previous comments that a full return would not be likely until at least after January and February, which she said are poised to be “very, very difficult months for coronavirus.’’

In addition to the discussion on the MAPC pledge, the Select Board covered a variety of topics at Tuesday’s meeting. Highlights include the approval of an updated Select Board Rules of Procedure, which includes a directive that members of the public must state their name and address prior to commenting, and the announcement that a contractor has been selected for the Main Street Corridor Project.

The latest issue of the Police Log includes reports of a stolen car, vandalized Christmas decorations, someone taking an animal tranquilizer, and a resident throwing a bag of dog feces into a neighbor’s yard.

The Hopkinton Public Library is conducting a survey to help with its new long-range plan. The survey — open to all, even those who don’t use the library — will be available until Dec. 13.

Photo of the Day: College Rock was quiet when this photo was taken on Tuesday, but it often is busy with climbers and hikers. It’s located off College Street near the border with Milford, in an area of Hopkinton known to longtime residents as Squash End.
