Business Profile: Kidsborough summer program offers safe place for social emotional growth

by | May 4, 2021 | Business, Featured

The Kidsborough Summer Program offers new and exciting adventures for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Among the themed adventures, children will discover the magic of reading, learn about weather, explore the animal kingdom, play a life-size game of Operation, understand ways to keep the planet healthy, look at the science behind animation, journey through wild marine habitats and more. Scheduled field trips include Franklin Park Zoo, Hopkinton State Park and the Ecotarium.

Children also will create stunning works of art from unusual materials, engage in plenty of outdoor play and discover new skills and experiences.

“Concerned about the lost learning this year, we’re building in extras and supplementing activities with plenty of social emotional support to give each child the best possible summer and help prep them for the academic year ahead,” stated Christeen Rohwer, owner and program administrator.

For more than two decades, caring staff at Kidsborough have provided a safe place for social emotional growth. Students have fun, thrive and create lasting friendships. Teachers are trained educators who work closely with college-age group leaders interested in the field of education.

The low teacher-student ratio (1:8) allows staff to lead a structured program, interact more with students and better manage all aspects of safety.

Rohwer’s son, Jakob, has been a Kidsborough kid since age 6. Following college, he became site coordinator for the Canton location.

“I love seeing Kidsborough kids at the grocery store,” he stated. “I’ve watched them grow and am proud of the role I’ve played, however small, in helping these children develop.”

Kidsborough offers a flexible schedule for families. Register for a day or two, participate in one or more weeks, or join for the full summer.

The 34 Hayden Rowe St. location is open throughout the summer from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. with structured program hours between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Two healthy snacks are provided. Families pack a lunch and water bottle.

Kidsborough offers before and after school enrichment year-round as well as summer programming. State vouchers are accepted and financial aid applications are found online. Discover more at kidsborough.com or call 508-435-5430.
