Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
The Hopkinton School Committee’s 3-2 vote to become the first Massachusetts community to lift the mask requirement for COVID-19 vaccinated students and staff for a three-week trial period in November has brought forth a range of opinions from both inside and outside the community. “It’s so interesting where people are,” Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh said in an interview with The Independent. “They’re all over the place.”
For the first day of the lifting of the mask mandate, about half of the students attended Hopkinton High School with their masks on, according to Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh in an interview Monday afternoon.
The Hopkinton Freedom Team will host an Active Bystander Workshop for high schoolers and adults this Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This free community workshop is presented by True Story Theater on Zoom. New and returning participants are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and practice new skills to help defuse offensive and threatening situations.
Town meetings tonight include the Conservation Commission (7) and Historical Commission (7). The School Committee has an executive session at 7.
