Health Department seeks participants for survey related to health impacts of long COVID

by | Jul 13, 2023 | News

The Hopkinton Health Department is sponsoring a Massachusetts Department of Public Health intern who is researching the health impacts of long COVID, and as part of her research, the intern is conducting an online survey that residents are invited to fill out.

Participation in the survey is anonymous, and responses will be confidential. The survey has a maximum of 36 questions and should take five minutes or less to complete.

Megan Donnelly, an MPH candidate at Boston University, was paired with the Hopkinton Health Department. She is interested in gathering data on long COVID in Hopkinton and researching the wide range of symptoms that the illness can cause and how those symptoms relate to immune system dysfunction and dysregulation.

“Each year, municipal health departments and public health institutions across the Commonwealth are eligible to host a Massachusetts Department of Public Health intern for the summer,” Hopkinton Health Director Shaun McAuliffe said. “The process is competitive, as only 15-20 interns are accepted into the MDPH’s program. Hopkinton has been fortunate to host an intern four of the last six years.”
