Domino’s Pizza considered for 70 Main Street location

by | Dec 4, 2023 | Business, Featured: News, News

At its meeting Tuesday, the Select Board will consider granting a common victualer’s license for a Domino’s pizza restaurant in downtown Hopkinton.

Celal Fatih Gokdag of Waltham applied for the new license on Nov. 27. If approved, the establishment will operate from 10:30 a.m. to midnight seven days a week on a delivery and carry-out basis. It will be located on the main floor of 70 Main Street, which has been vacant since the closing of Old Town Liquors.

The applicant provided a certificate of liability insurance certificate issued by Intrepid Direct Insurance Agency, LLC. The insured is listed as Brighton Pie, Inc., located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston at 464 Washington Street, where a Domino’s had been located.

The Domino’s would seek a slice of the local pizza market that includes nearby Bill’s Downtown Pizzeria & Kitchen (14 Main Street), Blue Square Pizza (30 Main Street) and Hillers Pizza (77 West Main Street).

Gokdag did not immediately respond to phone or email messages seeking more information.

I think this is quite good idea to open this Pizza shop, not only for the residence in Hopkinton, also for the passengers who pass road 135 and 85. Support. Like!

Old school delivery fast food chains like Dominos are best suited for college towns, next to entertainment venues, etc. As the previous comment states, this will attract out of town people. Do you think the 24 hour illuminated sign will add a classy look to our downtown?

Agree. It seems risky for another pizza place to open in Hopkinton. The existing restaurants have qualities that have earned them clients. Blue Square has different styles of pizza & unusual choices for toppings. Bills has a sit down restaurant and serves items other than pizza. Hillers already delivers.

Very sad. Hope this isn’t the beginning of more chains ruining our beautiful downtown. CVS was enough.

We already have two pizza shops downtown. How about a real restaurant serving Indian, Chinese, Greek, or Middle Eastern food? For people who need to pick up fast food on the way home, consider a site further out of town where they could have an actual drive-through.

Seems like people want something other than pizza. If true, then they should put up the money and open the business. I feel like too many residents don’t understand or perhaps have forgotten how business works in municipalities – it’s not democracy, folks.

No.. Time for a upscale restaurant. Or a genuine NY Bagel Shop..
