The Select Board will interview the four finalists for town manager at its meeting Tuesday as it moves closer to appointing a permanent replacement for Norman Khumalo.

Elaine Lazarus, one of the candidates, was appointed as the interim town manager on April 16. She has served the town for three decades, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the role. In addition to being interim town manager, she simultaneously is working in her roles as the assistant town manager and Land Use Department manager. She began working for the town in 1992 as a town planner, ascending to become director of land use, permitting and planning in 2010. Six years later, Lazarus became the director of land use and operations. Before her work in Hopkinton, Lazarus was the town planner of Charlton, Dudley and Wellesley.

Chris Senior, who has served as town manager of Cohasset for the past decade, also is vying for the position. He previously spent 10 years as deputy town supervisor in North Hempstead, New York. He has ties to Massachusetts, as he earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and economics from Boston University and worked for a MetroWest radio station. He earned a law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. He worked in law in Washington, D.C., and Nassau County, New York, before switching to municipal service as a career.

Lance DelPriore currently serves as town engineer and assistant director of Public Works for the town of Foxborough. Previously, he was assistant town engineer for the town of Sharon. DelPriore is an Air Force veteran who served as an air traffic controller there for four years. He earned an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2012 and a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University in 2022. Prior to that, DelPriore received two associate’s degrees in airway science and professional aeronautics.

Jason Hoch, another contender, brings more than 20 years of government experience to the role. He previously served as town manager of Williamstown and as town administrator for Litchfield, New Hampshire. He resigned from the Williamstown position amid controversy over a months-long police department scandal. He currently works as the deputy director of the Innovation Institute at Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. In this role, Hoch is helping to grow the state’s innovation economy, which relates to technological advancements as well as new developments in economic science.

The public had a chance to connect with all four candidates at a June 20 meet and greet event at the Hopkinton Public Library.

The interview process is slated to last three hours, according to the Select Board agenda.
