Wood Street water line break could cause discoloration

by | Jul 24, 2025 | Featured: News, News

The Department of Public Works warned residents to be aware of potential water discoloration as it worked to fix a water line break on Wood Street.

In a notice to residents, DPW Director Kerry Reed announced that crews responded to a water line break at Wood Street near Walker Street on Thursday morning. Water service was restored as of 9 a.m.

“Nearby areas should expect water disruption,” Reed stated. “Please be advised that there may be discoloration off and on for several days in the surrounding areas.”

Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released.

Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.

For more information, visit the Water Department’s website or call 508-497-9765.
