by | Jan 29, 2026 | Featured: News, News, Police & Fire

Fruit Street was temporarily closed Thursday morning due to a fire, according to information released by the Hopkinton Fire Department’s union and the town’s Water & Sewer Department.

The fire broke out in the area of Fruit Street and Victory Lane at approximately 10 a.m., according to a Facebook post by the Hopkinton Firefighters Local 3772 union.

“Hopkinton units along with automatic and mutual aid are operating at a working fire in the area of Fruit St. and Victory Ln.,” the post stated. “Fruit St. will be closed. Avoid the area.”

The Independent reached out to Hopkinton Fire Chief Gary Daugherty and Deputy Chief for more details Thursday morning. An HFD dispatcher said at 11:15 a.m. that both were at the scene of the blaze and would provide an update later in the day.

An email by Water/Sewer Department manager Jed Fenneuff at 10:34 a.m. stated that residents “may experience discolored water in all areas of town” due to the Fruit Street fire.

This article will be updated as more information is received.
