The Department of Public Works announced last week that contractors are scheduled to begin construction of a sidewalk on Chestnut Street starting Tuesday.
Along the southern side of Chestnut Street between Wild Road and Smith Road, the DPW plans to construct a 5.5-foot-wide sidewalk. A crosswalk will connect the the northern sidewalk on Chestnut Street to the southern sidewalk west of Wild Road.
Morais Contractors, Inc. will construct the new sidewalk, following the DPW’s road opening permit requirements. This prevents lane closures before 9 a.m. and after 3 p.m. on high-traffic roads.
