Additional water main service on Ash Street set for Friday

by | Jul 31, 2026 | News

The Water-Sewer Department announced that it will shut down a portion of the water main on Ash Street for additional service Friday morning.

In a notice to residents, Water-Sewer Manager Jed Fenneuff advised that, due to “unforseen circumstances,” part of the water main from 15 Ash Street to 32 Ash Street would shut off beginning at 10:30 a.m. A contractor will shut down the water main to adjust three water services in preparation for the new drain pipe on Ash Street, Fenneuff explained.

“The contractor will work diligently to restore water service as soon as possible,” he added. Fenneuff did not provide a timeline for how long the shutdown would take.

Water service customers in the area may experience water discoloration during the shutdown.

Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released. The Water-Sewer Department recommends residents check their water before use.

Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.

For more information, visit the Water-Sewer Department’s website or call 508-497-9765.
