Business Briefs: Baypath receives grant from Middlesex Savings

by | Aug 21, 2026 | Business, Featured

Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton announced recently that it received a $75,000 grant awarded by the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation. The support will allow Baypath to complete its animal care and adoption center, creating a modern facility that expands lifesaving capacity, enhances animal care and advances Baypath’s lifesaving mission for generations to come.

The 8,200-square-foot center, under construction on Fruit Street in Hopkinton, represents the largest investment in Baypath’s nearly 50-year history. Designed specifically for modern animal welfare, the facility will provide expanded medical and behavioral care space, improved housing for dogs and cats, dedicated education and volunteer areas and welcoming adoption spaces that better serve both animals and people. Once complete, the center will allow Baypath to serve more than 1,500 animals annually while expanding outreach, education and surrender-prevention programs throughout the region.

“We are incredibly grateful to Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation for believing in this vision,” said Elizabeth Jefferis, executive director of Baypath Humane Society. “This generous investment helps us build far more than a new shelter. It helps create a permanent home where animals receive exceptional care, families find lifelong companions and our community can come together through education, volunteerism and compassion. Middlesex Savings Bank has been a longtime partner of Baypath, and we are honored to have them helping us build the future.”

Baypath Humane Society is a nonprofit organization serving Massachusetts with animal rehoming and adoption services, training and behavior support, volunteer opportunities, humane education and pet food assistance through community partnerships.

Manish earns certification

Hopkinton’s Chandra Manish recently became a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, signifying a voluntary board certification in implant dentistry.

“To earn this title, Dr. Manish demonstrated his expertise through several years of implant dentistry practice, extensive continuing education and passing a rigorous oral examination, which included case reviews by an expert panel sponsored by the ABOI/ID,” the organization explained in a press release. “The ABOI/ID’s examination process measures the in-depth knowledge, proficient skills and abilities required for practitioners to provide comprehensive, safe and effective oral implant care for the public.”

Manish, who earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, owns and runs dentistry offices in Waltham and Lowell.
