Business Profile: Exceptional service distinguishes Ostrander Insurance Agency

by | Jan 12, 2021 | Featured

Luckily for many, Paul Ostrander of Ostrander Insurance thinks insurance is the most fascinating industry of all. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Dick, who founded the independent agency more than four decades ago. Together they continue to serve individuals, families and businesses throughout MetroWest.

“I’m passionate about helping people and helping others to protect their most precious assets,” said Ostrander, who serves as director of agency operations.

Established in 1979 in Franklin, the agency quickly opened a second location in nearby Bellingham, bringing a solid presence in the insurance industry there for 35 years. Seven years ago, the two offices consolidated into a single location when the Bellingham office was significantly expanded. Paul joined forces with his dad in 2017 after working several years at a different agency in Cambridge.

Ostrander Insurance provides personalized service to meet homeowner, auto and business insurance needs. Progressive and forward-thinking, company representatives contact customers to regularly shop policies around, saving clients money while maintaining the same or better coverage limits. They even have needed to call customers back after being hung up on because the customer could not believe it was their own insurance agent calling to proactively save them money.

“We treat our customers the way we’d want to be treated,” Ostrander said. “Shopping policies around for our clients is just the right thing to do every few years.” Ostrander is convinced this practice is responsible for the agency’s 98 percent retention rate.

For many years, Ostrander Insurance has received awards recognizing superior service. Readers’ Choice Awards has named the company Best Insurance Agency in Franklin and Bellingham multiple times. Additionally, all 31 Google reviews rate Ostrander with a five-star ranking.

The Ostrander family has strong ties to Hopkinton, having lived here for decades. All three sons attended Hopkinton schools, and each excelled in one sport or another.

“I love this community,” Ostrander added. “Hopkinton means so much to me and my family and to my wife, Jessie, as we make this our hometown, too.”

As a way of giving back locally, Ostrander Insurance sponsors the Live4Evan organization, the nonprofit created by the Girardi family in honor of their late son, Evan. Paul and Evan first became friends when they won a Little League Baseball championship at Carrigan Field as youngsters and were classmates throughout high school. The Ostranders are devoted to the Live4Evan cause of helping families stay together while their loved ones receive treatment at Boston’s world-class heart centers.

Paul Ostrander is a member of the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce and part of Business Network International (BNI) in Hopkinton. He serves on the board of directors for the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents, based in Milford, and serves as company outreach chair, meeting with insurance executives about market trends and new products.

He also travels to Washington, D.C., to speak with representatives regarding national insurance issues.

Personally, Paul enjoys serving the Hopkinton Parks & Recreation Department as a basketball referee and softball umpire.
