Business Profile: Under Pressure Power Washing celebrates 21 years helping revive homes

Mark Mercer (right) and Under Pressure teammate Chad Mercer use a custom-made soft power washing system that is eco-friendly and helps preserve the home’s exterior.

With homeowners spending more time at home and using their outside space a lot these days, patio and deck restorations have been the most requested service by Under Pressure Power Washing, Inc.

“With all the craziness of COVID-19, homeowners are yearning to make some improvements to wake up their homes again,” stated Mark Mercer, company founder and owner. “Exterior cleaning is a simple thing to do, on a short budget, that makes the house feel like yours again.”

Mercer calls his a “feel good” service and adds that he is grateful to provide the exterior cleaning services homeowners require, especially during this difficult time when things can seem at their darkest and dreariest.

“Many customers this summer expressed their gratitude and told us they’ve fallen in love with their homes all over again. We’re making that our motto this year,” Mercer said.

With 21 years’ experience, Mercer understands that mold, mildew and unsightly debris, such as dirt, pollen, cobwebs and insect nests can accumulate over time on a home’s exterior, causing it to look dull and aged and shortening the life of the exterior paint, stain or vinyl.

Under Pressure is dedicated to using safe, eco-friendly cleaning methods, and its detergents are safe for pets, plants and people. The company specializes in a soft-washing technique that is low-pressure, high-heat exterior cleaning — ideal for removing mold, mildew, grime and other surface pollutants from almost any surface.

Gentle and non-abrasive, soft washing is highly effective. Mercer uses a custom-made washing system comprised of cleaning solution tanks and low-pressure pumps to clean and rinse at minimal pressures, which helps preserve the home’s exterior. Steam cleaning also avoids jeopardizing the integrity of the surface being washed. Cleaning and restoring decks, patios and walkways, however, calls for the company’s traditional power washing method.

As Mercer celebrates the 21st anniversary of his business, he says, “I still love what I do, helping people revive their homes and educating homeowners about their options.”

Whether it’s gutter cleaning, roof maintenance, window or solar panel washing, patio or deck restoration or exterior cleaning, Under Pressure has the equipment, know-how and passion to meet a homeowner’s needs.

Mercer recommends gutter cleaning twice a year and exterior cleaning at least every two years. Roof maintenance should be considered every three years.

Mercer also believes in giving back.

”Hopkinton has been really good to my company for years, and I’m grateful for that,” he said, “and when something pops up, like cleaning up graffiti at EMC Park, and I have the tools to do it, I’m going to do it. My kids play there. I love being part of this community. I’m glad to be in the cleaning business, so I can make people’s lives a little bit brighter.”

Individuals can visit underpressurewash.com for an array of services, view the “before and after” photo gallery or request an instant estimate. Questions can be answered by the office at 508-944-6644.

Said Mercer: “When your house is clean on the outside, you can enjoy your space so much more.”
