Granite Street was closed for several hours Monday morning after a crane tipped off the side of the road  into a tree, the Hopkinton Police Department announced in a Facebook post.

“At approximately 10:30 a.m. we were dispatched to the area of 14 Granite Street for a report of a crane off the side of the roadway,” stated Detective Sergeant Scott van Raalten in an email to the Independent. “At approximately 11 a.m., Granite Street was shut down, and Ted’s of Southboro was contacted to bring the crane back on the roadway.”

He added that the Massachusetts State Police Truck Team was contacted “to assist in the investigation of this commercial vehicle crash,” and that no injuries were reported.

“At this time it appears the crane was traveling east on Granite Street when it got too close to the side of the road and was pulled into the ditch,” van Raalten continued.

The schools were notified to adjust their bus routes because of this incident. Van Raalten advised drivers to find alternative routes around the Granite Street area.
