A 35-year-old Connecticut man died Monday night after he was struck by a passing tractor-trailer on Interstate 90 in Hopkinton.
Massachusetts State Police responded to a scene at mile marker 104.6 in Hopkinton in I-90 west around 11:15 p.m. on Monday. Trooper Leah O’Connell stated in an email that the man, Patrick Sarpong of Vernon, Connecticut, had been cleaning snow from his vehicle on the edge of the roadway when the truck struck him.
“Westborough Fire/EMS arrived on scene [and] treated the victim who succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital,” O’Connell stated.
The crash followed a major nor’easter that passed over New England Sunday night into Monday afternoon. Gov. Maura Healey issued a travel ban as the storm arrived on Monday which restricted the speed limit on I-90 to 40 mph.
Additional details on the crash were not available.
