Fire hydrant flow test scheduled for Main Street late Monday night, potentially causing water discoloration

by | Sep 20, 2024 |

The town’s water and sewer superintendent announced Friday that a required fire hydrant flow test will take place late Monday night that would affect Main Street and cause potential water discoloration in town.

The test will be brief, expected to occur approximately between 10-10:30 p.m., stated Eric Carty in a release.

“Customers may notice some discoloration during and after the tests throughout town,” he cautioned. “Please avoid doing any laundry, dishwasher loads or other water use activities during this time.”

He added that “any discoloration that may occur will eventually dissipate.” Carty suggested running the cold water line to clear internal building pipes once the test is complete.
