Good morning, Hopkinton!
For those new to the site, this post is a daily update we call Hopkinton Today. We’ll have a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights for the coming day and a video or two to brighten your day.
Another Hopkinton resident passed away after contracting COVID-19. Hopkinton’s latest update shows that 97 people in town have been confirmed positive, with 70 active cases, 19 who have recovered and eight deaths.
One of the directors of the Sharon Timlin Memorial Event discussed the decision to shift the 5K to a virtual platform and expressed hope that the turnout will remain strong for the popular annual Hopkinton event on June 20.
Hopkinton resident Dr. Mary Jo Ondrechen is doing her part to help find a cure for COVID-19. Ondrechen, a professor of chemistry and chemical biology at Northeastern University, received a fast-track grant from the National Science Foundation to study the protein structures of the coronavirus and to identify ways to modify its destructive behavior.
