Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
The fall sports season might not be normal, but the boys and girls cross country teams are continuing their usual dominance of the Tri-Valley League. The girls are led by University of Florida-bound Olivia Jones. The boys have a new coach, but it’s a familiar face to most of the runners.
The latest edition of the weekly Police Log has two arrests, numerous reports of damage from the recent storm, a bar fight and more unemployment fraud.
The Lake Maspenock Preservation Association is holding its annual lake cleanup tomorrow. Check-in is at Sandy Beach between 9 a.m.-noon. Social distancing rules are in effect, and masks are required. LMPA will provide gloves and trash bags for those who need them. Refreshments will not be provided this year due to the COVID restrictions.
Also on the schedule for tomorrow: Women’s March at the Town Common, hazardous waste collection day at the Department of Public Works facility, and the first day of early in-person voting at the Senior Center. And the Hopkinton High School sports teams are back in action both Saturday and Sunday.
