Good morning, Hopkinton!
For those new to the site, this post is a daily update we call Hopkinton Today. We’ll have a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights for the coming day and a video or two to brighten your day.
The town released a COVID-19 update yesterday, with new information regarding income tax filing deadlines, stimulus checks, the library, real estate and the Senior Center, among others.
Project Just Because’s annual Shamrock Shindig was canceled last month due to the coronavirus pandemic, but organizers were able to put together an online auction, featuring a number of creative and useful items. The auction ends next Thursday, April 9, at 9 p.m.
Hopkinton Family Day organizers announced that the 2020 event will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 — five days after the rescheduled Boston Marathon. Family Day is a community event featuring live entertainment, games and activities along with food trucks and capped off by a fireworks display. The day is supported by many generous local businesses and residents. Town organizations, nonprofits, clubs and businesses in town provide the free activities. Viral video of the day: Sandra the Orangutan shows she can thoroughly wash her hands — and then for good measure she washes an item in her enclosure at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida.
