Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
After many months of discussion, and despite opposition from abutters, the Planning Board voted Monday night to approve a special permit for a 28-acre solar array in the woods off 71 Frankland Road to be built by Seaboard Solar. However, town counsel raised concerns with the solar overlay map the Planning Board sent to September’s Town Meeting, and he noted that the Frankland Road project will not be grandfathered in if the very restrictive map gets voter approval.
Hopkinton was tabbed as the second safest city in America for 2020, according to the newly released 100 Safest Cities in America rankings by the national security analysis website SafeWise. Last year Hopkinton held the No. 1 spot.
The Conservation Committee meets tonight (6:30), as does the Design Review Committee (7).
