Man who went missing from Golden Pond last week has died

The 84-year-old man who went missing from The Communities at Golden Pond assisted living last week died Saturday, according to an obituary at the Eaton Funeral Homes website.

James Noon, was rescued last Tuesday a short distance from the facility after disappearing two days earlier. Although he was “conscious and alert” when found by emergency personnel, he was taken to a hospital and died four days later.

Noon, a native of Sherburne, New York, was an instructor in neuroscience at Harvard Medical School and a researcher at Mass General Hospital and McLean Hospital before developing his own scientific advertising company, according to his obituary. A Marine Corps veteran, he lived in New York and California before settling in Newton, where he lived for 40 years.

He leaves his wife of 52 years and five children.

A memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 14 at United Parish of Auburndale.

    That’s a disgrace. Place should be closed down. Not caring for the wonderful people who live there and causing multiple deaths. God help the families involved.
