On NRG Lab’s Facebook page, when members are asked to describe the fitness center in a single word or two, many might be surprised by what they hear: “Family,” “Community,” “Happy place,” and “Always clean.” And while that verbiage may seem somewhat unusual when describing a gym, NRG Lab is anything but usual.
Milford’s newest gym, NRG (as in Energy) Lab is a fitness center like no other. For founder and owner Luther White, it’s not about collecting a monthly fee from members and ignoring them; it’s about engaging them and supporting their individual goals.
“When you come to NRG Lab, we help create a plan focused on your needs,” explained Luther. “We listen, learn and understand your ‘why’ and support you to reach your individual goals.”
What does that mean exactly? The coaches at NRG Lab take a personal interest in your individual journey toward better fitness and nutrition.
“We have a training mentality here; everybody trains,” said Luther.
It’s that personal approach that makes the NRG Lab a special community and precisely what makes it stand out.
According to NRG Lab, its goal is to support its members to become one percent better every day. NRG Lab believes a workout routine should have four major components – purpose, variety, nutrition, and recovery – and will guide you through this process.
“We recognize the body can do more than the mind is willing to let it, and we pour that approach into everything we do,” said Luther, a former sponsored Ironman triathlete.
He and his wife Bethany, have made fitness and nutrition a way of life for themselves and their three kids. The married couple have competed in Ironman triathlons throughout the world and opened their first NRG Lab location in 2013. After acquiring the former Midtown Family Fitness Center in April, Luther has been hard at work renovating, updating, and organizing the facility. A new 40-yard functional training area includes turf, a new spin studio, cardio deck, strength training room and new equipment.
For $39.95 a month, NRG Milford offers its members full access to its facility and more than 40 classes a week, boot camps, personal training, nutritional and youth performance training.
And let’s not forget to mention just how clean NRG Lab Milford is.
“I can honestly say we have the cleanest gym around, we are intentional about it,” said Luther.
One look at NRG Lab’s Google reviews include numerous comments about the cleanliness.
“The gym is a very intimate and personal environment. We recognize it is our responsibility to deliver an exceptionally clean space where people feel comfortable coming to,” Luther noted.
