‘Peace Dreamer’ book created during time of little hope

by | Jun 1, 2021 | Featured

Cheryl Melody Baskin (who goes by Melody) knew she was unlike most others from a very young age. Her “shy nature and hopeful approach to everyday life” was something rather different from the rest of her peers. Baskin fostered these traits into her new book, “Peace Dreamer: A Journey of Hope in Bad Times and Good.”

The Hopkinton resident started writing the book in October 2020, published it through her own company, Cheryl Melody LLC, and made it available (via Amazon) in March. In the book, Baskin addresses the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic and ways she coped with it.

“I just had so much inside of me during the pandemic, like everyone did, everything from our societal divisions to our medical crisis,” Baskin said. “Writing saved my life, my sanity, kept me grounded, and kept me clear through it all.”

In the book, Baskin also discusses the power of chakras — a Sanskrit term that refers to energy centers in the body — and positive affirmations, and the effects they can have on the mindset of people going through different parts of their lives.

“It has been so powerful in so many various aspects of my life, and it really just keeps you grounded in who you truly are,” she said.

Peace Dreamer book

Cheryl Melody Baskin’s latest book “Peace Dreamer,” discusses staying positive during trying times such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

This has been Baskin’s calling from a very young age.

“I knew that I always wanted to do this,” she said. “It is what brings me joy.”

As a writer, singer and motivational speaker, she “found a new, more inclusive meaning to love and peace” throughout the pandemic.

“It has been a year of hurting and a lot of division, with police brutality and people dying, it was very heavy. But I used that strength to create some light,” she said. “It was really a gift.”

Baskin is a veteran author and publisher. She wrote the prequel to “Peace Dreamer,” called “Heart-Dreamer: Stepping Into Life, Love, Creativity and Dreams — No Matter What” in 2019. She also is the creator of nine award-winning albums, and recently was honored with the Visioneers International Network’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Baskin’s website (cherylmelody.com) delves deeper into her work experience, her career and an overview of her various writings and works.

“My collection just keeps on growing, and I am just so grateful to be able to talk to more people and share my unusual take on this mysterious world,” she said.

Her primary advice to any reader, listener, or writer: “Just write what you believe will have an impact.”

I have enjoyed all three of Melody’s books as well as her beautiful CDs. She is an extremely talented and reflective individual who writes and sings from her very generous heart.
