Licensed esthetician and certified acne specialist Lisa Massimiano at Skin Smart Salon in Ashland is ready to help customers achieve healthy, beautiful skin.

A licensed esthetician, Lisa Massimiano believes that good skin care promotes healthy, beautiful skin, and 10 years ago she opened Skin Smart Salon at 44 Front St. in Ashland to provide problem-solving treatments and home care recommendations to meet individual skin care needs.

“I’m a good listener and am very knowledgeable about my craft,” Massimiano said with a smile. “My goal is to work with you and address your needs. Together, we can keep your skin healthy and looking beautiful.”

All services are offered by appointment. There are microdermabrasion and chemical peel treatments to smooth and brighten the skin, micro-current treatments to tighten and tone facial muscles, as well as a variety of customized, relaxing facials to improve the health and appearance of one’s skin.

Waxing services and skin care products also are available.

Massimiano is also a certified acne specialist and treats acne for both teens and adults. As part of her treatment program, she educates her clients about acne and provides useful facts about proper skin care and lifestyle tips to help clear their skin and keep their acne under control.

“A one-size-fits-all regimen is often not effective when treating acne,” Massimiano said. “An ongoing relationship with an acne expert who knows your skin and can customize and monitor your home care is the best way to clear skin and stay clear.”

Massimiano is certified by the Face Reality Acne Clinic in California, whose successful acne treatment program is the foundation of the Skin Smart program.

Massimiano advises clients that it can typically take four to six months to clear acne. Once the skin is clear, it is important for the client to maintain a proper home-care routine to keep their acne under control.

During an initial acne consultation, a client will learn about his or her skin and acne type. Massimiano will examine the skin and test its sensitivity to determine the appropriate action plan for treatments at the salon and for home care.

“Many people suffer with acne,” Massimiano added. “Probably as many as 70 percent of my clients come to me for acne treatment. They walk away feeling informed, educated and empowered in their ability to achieve clear skin. Best of all, they see results. This program makes a huge difference in their lives.”
