Teenage driver dies after accident on I-495 in Hopkinton

The Massachusetts State Police announced that a 19-year-old female from Franklin died Tuesday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 in Hopkinton.

UPDATE: The driver was identified as Allison Kane.

The accident occurred on the northbound side of the highway. Troopers responding to calls about a crash and fire arrived at the scene shortly after 1 p.m. and found a Nissan Altima in the center median in flames. Hopkinton Fire and EMS extinguished the fire.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene, police stated.

The area was cleared shortly after 6 p.m.

The crash and its possible causes remain under investigation.
