Hopkinton Today: Tuesday, May 25

by | May 25, 2021 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

Editor’s note: Hopkinton Today is back after an unplanned one-day absence. In order to improve the experience for our readers and better handle the high volume of visitors to the Independent website, the site was moved to a new hosting platform over the weekend, and some issues were being worked out Monday morning. We’re back today to catch you up on the news in town.

Saturday’s Town Election, like Town Meeting two weeks earlier, featured a small turnout and no surprises. In the only contested race, incumbents Amanda Fargiano and Meg Tyler easily won the race for the two available seats on the School Committee. All four questions passed by substantial margins.

Hopkinton’s latest COVID-19 update shows six active cases and includes information on the reopening plan for the state.

The Hopkinton Lions Club, with help from the Hopkinton Fire Department, is hosting a Golf Ball Drop fundraiser on Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Hopkinton High School Field 10.

Town meetings tonight include the Conservation Commission (7) and Woodville Historic District Commission (7).

The event was organized in part to recognize resident Becky Mourey (third from left) who recently was diagnosed with the disease, as well as to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure.
