Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
The Parks & Recreation Commission met briefly on Wednesday evening and discussed the maintenance and possible repair of the synthetic turf at the athletic fields off Fruit Street. “We need to decide whether we should go through with replacing the turf or if there can be maintenance to keep it useful for a few more years,” Parks & Rec director Jay Guelfi said.
Thursday was a big day for the three Hopkinton High School teams still alive in the postseason. Girls tennis knocked off top-seeded King Philip and boys tennis beat visiting Westwood, sending both teams to the sectional final. Baseball beat Dighton-Rehoboth in the sectional quarterfinals.
Hopkinton’s Gateway Green project at the Interstate 495 interchange was selected to receive Tower Hill’s Community Greening Award for Best Traffic Island.
