Joe Carrazza netted a hat trick and the Hopkinton High School boys hockey team knocked off Westwood, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at New England Sports Center in Marlborough in the Division 2 state tournament’s Round of 16.

With the win, eighth-seeded Hopkinton (18-4) advances to play another Tri-Valley League foe in 17th-seeded Norwood (14-6-2) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at New England Sports Center in the quarterfinals. Norwood upset top-seeded Tewksbury Memorial, 5-2, on Sunday.

Joe Scardino scored twice for Hopkinton, Ryan Teitel had a goal and an assist, and Pavit Mehra picked up a pair of assists. Jack Lang picked up the win in goal.

Westwood got the opening score, but Carrazza answered, and the Hillers took a 3-2 lead after one period. The teams traded single goals in the second period. Teitel scored 2:17 into the third period to give Hopkinton some insurance, and Carrazza put the game out of reach when he scored with just under four minutes left.
