Hopkinton Today: Monday, Oct. 9

by | Oct 9, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Members of Hopkinton’s emergency management group met Friday morning to discuss the town’s water discoloration issue, Water-Sewer Department Manager Eric Carty announced.

An overview of the proposed Hopkins School addition on Thursday brought the School Committee up to date on the design work done so far to expand the 78,000-square-foot building originally intended for 628 students.

The Hopkinton High School football team improved to 4-1 with Thursday’s 21-14 victory over Medfield, and we have photos.

On Friday morning, an Eversource crew began to dig up the yard in front of 1 Maple Street to repair a leaking gas line in response to residents’ complaints of a pervasive noxious odor for the past two weeks.

The Open Space Preservation Commission at its meeting Thursday night discussed the need for OSPC to review land slated to be donated to the town before it is conveyed because this had not been done in the case of Turkey Ridge Estates open space earlier this year.

As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, there will be no work on Monday due to the holiday. For the rest of the week, the focus will be on cleaning the job site for the winter season. This includes temporary pavement for walkways and adjustments of roadway structures.
