Main Street Corridor Project update: Winter shutdown arrives

by | Nov 3, 2023 | Business, News

The town announced that the Main Street Corridor Project is in winter shutdown. The contractor, A.F. Amorello & Sons, is off-site until spring 2024, barring any emergencies or repairs.

Winterization of the project is substantially complete. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is pushing for a full replacement of all peeling traffic signal poles to be done next year. Verizon poles have been set.

Eversource transformers are not available, preventing completion of the undergrounding of utilities, which will require a new end date to be set for the project. No final date has been confirmed yet. The goal is to position the project to be ready when transformers are available. Eversource will explore any additional work that can be completed over the winter.

Anticipated work for the spring of 2024, in addition to the work mentioned above, includes final paving and brick work as well as tree plantings.
