Updated COVID-19 vaccine available from Health Department Thursday

by | Nov 6, 2023 | News

Updated COVID booster shot

the updated COVID-19 booster shot will be available at a clinic at Town Hall on Thursday.

A limited supply of the updated Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine will be available Thursday from the Hopkinton Health Department.

A VCF flu/COVID clinic is scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 9) from 3-5 p.m. in the lower level of Town Hall.

This vaccine formula, designed to target the current circulating form of COVID-19, recently was approved and universally recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older.

People who do not have health insurance or have a health plan that does not cover the cost of vaccination can get a free vaccine from the Health Department. All children — even those privately insured — are eligible for the Vaccines for Children program and may receive the vaccine for free from the Hopkinton Health Department.

For those individuals who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine in the past two months, the Hopkinton Health Department recommends getting the updated COVID-19 vaccine for protection this fall and winter. Vaccines are available for any uninsured adult or any child ages 12-18, regardless of insurance.  Appointments for this age group will be added to the VCF clinic on Thursday. Book an appointment with this link.

There is no anticipated date yet for the new SpikeVax COVID-19 for children ages 6 months to 11 years old. The Health Department also expects a very limited supply of the new Spikevax COVID-19 for those ages 19 and older with private insurance.

Anyone interested and unable to obtain the new Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine can complete this form so that the Health Department can accurately determine community needs.
