Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Hopkinton Police Department Chief Joseph Bennett confirmed in a joint statement Monday evening that Ryan Sweatt, 36, a resident of Milford, will face a murder charge on Tuesday in connection with striking and killing Destini Decoff, 26, also of Milford, in Hopkinton on April 4.

Decoff died on Arpil 6 from injuries she sustained in what authorities termed as an apparent act of road rage by Sweatt. She was struck by a Honda Civic driven by Sweatt in the vicinity of Cornell’s Irish Pub at around 6:25 p.m. on April 4.  After being on life support for two days at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and undergoing multiple surgeries, she succumbed to her injuries.

The defendant will be arraigned on the new charge Tuesday in Framingham District Court. The prosecutors assigned to this case are Pavan Nagavelli and Christopher Tarrant.

Sweatt previously was arraigned on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation.
