At the 2024 U.S. Chess Federation National Elementary Championship in April, Hopkinton 7-year-old Devansh Vellanki emerged as the national champion in the K-1 category, sharing the title with two others.
Hopkinton High School boys volleyball coach Jake Enos said there has been a learning curve, but he was pleased to see the team win more matches than it lost as the Hillers neared the end of their first season of existence, competing at the club level.
This week’s Police Log includes reports of a vehicle fire, a person walking in the roadway on Cedar Street, and issues with jet skiers near Sandy Beach.
The Hopkinton Garden Club will host a Horticulture Specialty Flower Show at the Hopkinton Senior Center on Friday, June 7, from 1-4 p.m., and Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Photo of the Day: Work continues on the new houses off East Main Street, near Weston Nurseries. The house on the left was designed in the same style of the historic home that stood there before it was torn down last year.
