Residents raise concerns over West Main Street gas station proposal

by | Aug 27, 2024 | Featured: News, News

The Board of Appeals has scheduled a public hearing Wednesday night to discuss 290 West Main Street, where the potential developer hopes to construct a gas station and convenience store. Residents have expressed plans to attend the meeting and raise opposition to the proposal.

Formerly the site of Evergreen Haven Garden Center, the parcel — at the intersection with School Street — is being planned for development by Rte 85 Realty Corp. The company, which is owned by businessman Kevin Meehan, has proposed constructing a gas station and convenience store on the site.

The hearing will consider approving a variance for the gas station on land currently zoned for agriculture.

Some neighbors have expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal. They indicated plans to speak at Wednesday’s 7 p.m. meeting  — which is on Zoom only — and have encouraged others to join them.

You have to be kidding!!!! This location is already a NIGHTMARE with traffic and adding a gas station will only lead to even worse congestion as well as an increase in accidents. In fact, the whole reason for putting a light at that intersection was to reduce accidents! What’s next, a McDonalds???
