Main Street Corridor Project update: Painting repairs completed on mast arms throughout project

by | Sep 8, 2024 | News

The town’s latest Main Street Corridor Project update notes that Polar Vortex has completed painting the mast arms, the structures on which traffic lights are mounted, throughout the project.

Polar Vortex’s crew has been painting the traffic poles, where paint was peeling, for the past several weeks. Locations included the intersections of Main Street and Commonwealth Avenue, Pleasant Street, Grove Street, Church Street, Wood Street and Hayden Rowe Street, as well as in front of the Fire Station. The company may return for final touch-ups at a future date.

A.F. Amorello & Sons, the project’s construction company, is expected to return to on-site work this week. It will be prepping the brick strip along the bike lane and continuing its wall work at 1 West Main Street.

Overhead utility line transfer work will continue on the west side of the project during the upcoming week.

Eversource crews have been performing the preliminary work associated with the transformers, which should be completed within the next month. All 12 transformers have been installed. Shifting power lines from being overhead to underground should begin in late September or early October.

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing these tasks. This work may impact traffic and require lane and sidewalk closures, limiting access to driveways and entrances to businesses. Detours and alternating traffic patterns may be used as necessary.
