Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Trails Committee on Thursday approved 4-0 to request Community Preservation Committee funds for a proposal to create a child-friendly segment at Hughes Farm Trail.

The Hopkinton Lions cricket team won the New England Cricket Association Division A championship, emerging victorious with a dominant performance against the Daredevils in the final on Sept. 15 at the Hopkinton YMCA field.

This week’s Baypath Adoptable Animal is Ms. Piggy, a 3-year-old dog who “enjoys zooming around with squeaky toys, basking in the sun, snuggling up for belly rubs and being told she’s pretty.”

James Arond-Thomas, M.D., of Hopkinton, a distinguished physician-researcher and dedicated medical practitioner, passed away Sept. 10 at age 80.

Alan B. King, 83, a local fine artist and Holliston resident of 45 years, passed away Sept. 19.

The Hopkinton Fire Department’s annual Open House is Sunday, Oct. 6. The event, held at the HFD headquarters on Main Street, will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
