Middlesex Savings donates $1.4M to area organizations

by | Feb 6, 2019 | Business

Middlesex Savings Bank recently announced it would make $1.4 million in unrestricted gifts through its charitable foundation to 84 community service organizations in early 2019. Thirty-one food pantries will each receive a donation of $20,000 while 27 libraries and 26 senior centers each will receive $15,000.

Among the recipients are two Hopkinton-based organizations: Project Just Because and Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library.

According to Mike McAuliffe, president and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank, “We are humbled to give this gift, which is a celebration of the amazing nonprofit organizations, their staffs and volunteers that work tirelessly to provide services and programs to our community. As a mutual bank, one of our core values is to be an integral part of our community, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are fortunate to be in a strong financial position to give this gift to the community, which will support the many people who we are honored to call customers, neighbors, family and friends.”

Middlesex Savings Bank explicitly chose to give to each of the food pantries, libraries and senior centers within its community because of the diverse cross-section of individuals that these organizations reach and support.

Last year the bank provided $1.2 million in funding to the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation to support 24 education foundations within the bank’s retail branch territory. These $50,000 awards were distributed with the goal of assisting the teachers and their educational projects and programs throughout the community.
