Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Hopkinton Center for the Arts’ Unified Theater program is set to dazzle audiences this weekend with two nights of Disney music.

This Friday and Saturday, the program will put on its “Salute to Disney” musical revue. A cast of adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities will perform songs from Disney classics including “Beauty and the Beast,” “Frozen,” “Mulan” and more.

“There are two group songs, and every student has their own solo song,” said Libby Lit, a special education paraprofessional at Hopkinton High School and one of the unified program instructors.

Lit began the Unified Theater program three years ago in Milford.

“When I started working in Hopkinton, I got asked to move the program over to HCA,” she explained.

Lit credits some of the success of the Unified Theater program to the community, which she says has embraced the program and offered its support.

‘[Community members] have given us props, costume pieces. … They’ve even made shirts for us,” Lit said.

Added Lit: “This town is incredible and has shown up and out for us.”

Tickets for both the Friday and Saturday performances still are available for purchase. The shows begin at 6 p.m., and tickets are pay-what-you-can. A sensory-safe space will be available for audience members if needed. More information can be found on the HCA events page.
