In a brief meeting Monday night, the Planning Board voted 6-0 to continue the hearing for a minor site plan review of 85-89 West Main Street until its next meeting on Aug. 4.
Vice chair Matthew Wronka, who chaired the meeting in the absence of chair Rob Benson, explained that the request for a continuance was made by the applicant prior to the meeting. This is the second consecutive meeting where the applicant has asked for a continuance.
The proposed restriping of the cramped parking lot would add four additional spaces for the small but popular shopping plaza. The one-acre parcel is located at the corner of West Main Street and Lumber Street, and the lot serves as the parking area for UniBank, Starbucks, Verizon and a nail salon.
At its previous meeting on June 16, the Planning Board continued the hearing in order to receive input from the Conservation Commission and the Department of Public Works director regarding potential stormwater runoff issues. The Conservation Commission continued the hearing scheduled for July 1 at the applicant’s request until July 22.
Board appoints ZAC, DRB members
The board conducted its annual appointment of members to its advisory subsidiaries for uncontested seats.
In a 7-0 vote, the board approved the following people to the Design Review Board (DRB) based on their interests and skill sets:
- Purvi Avlani and Jacqueline Crowe as Planning Board designees;
- Sue-Ellen Stoddard as a person qualified by training and experience in the fine arts or landscape design;
- Jeffrey Doherty as a person doing business in the town;
- Jeanette Thomson as a person qualified by training and experience in the arts or design professions.
The board also appointed Avlani and Crowe as alternate members of the Zoning Advisory Commission (ZAC) in a 7-0 vote. It approved Khwaja Ehsan and Adam Farkes for ZAC’s at-large seats by the same margin.
ZAC’s Planning Board representative likely will be chosen at the Aug. 4 Planning Board meeting. Two-time member Vikasith Pratty said he “would like to give the chance to the rest of the members.”
