Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Hopkinton Cultural Council’s Art on the Trail exhibit is set to return this fall with an open theme: “Out of Place.”

The theme encourages a wide interpretation from artists through any number of mediums. The only requirements for art are that it must fit the theme and be able to withstand the weather, as installations will remain on Center Trail throughout the duration of the exhibit.

“We want it to be a wide range of interpretations,” said Christine Enos, HCC’s secretary. She has helmed Art on the Trail for the last six years. “We would like the artists to take [their] interpretation and run with it.”

Enos said that the HCC is open to work from all skill levels, and welcomes both individual and group contributors. She noted that groups like the Sustainable Green Committee participated in the exhibition in years past.

Apart from the new theme, this year’s event also will be longer. “This year, we’re trying to do it for a longer period of time,” said Enos, explaining the art will remain on the trail “for about another week-and-a-half longer than normal.”

With any luck, Enos hopes to draw as many as 25 art pieces for the exhibition. “We’ve been growing a little bit every year,” she said when asked about previous exhibitions.

“It’s been a great experience as far as getting all different types of artists and artwork out there,” she added.

The submission window for Art on the Trail is open now, and will close Aug. 20. Those interested in submitting work can fill out the HCC’s Google Form. Artists are asked to provide a description of their work so the HCC can work out any necessary accommodations. The exhibit will run Sep.24-Oct. 24. Questions can be emailed to the HCC at hccartonthetrail@gmail.com.
