Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Local physical therapist Julianne Rickert and her family will appear on an episode of “Family Feud” that airs later this week.

The Cappadona family’s appearance on the game show started off as nothing serious. Rickert, who serves as director of operations for Platinum Physical Therapy in Hopkinton, explained her brother submitted the family’s application as a joke in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“His mind is always looking for things in the entertainment industry,” Rickert said, explaining her brother is a working actor and musician. “Sure enough, a year later, he gets an email.”

The Cappadonas completed a virtual audition in the spring of 2023, and then in February of this year they were invited to Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta to do a follow up audition and possibly record an episode.

“You have to wow them in person,” said Rickert. “You theoretically could go home again, but they liked our in-person audition too.”

The episode the Cappadonas filmed will air Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. on WHDH. While she couldn’t divulge how the episode turned out, Rickert recounted what the experience of being on the game show was like.

“You’re there all day,” she said. The family’s time in the studio included learning more about the rules of game shows, watching rounds of other families competing and interacting with the casting department.

One of the highlights for Rickert was meeting Steve Harvey, the host of “Family Feud.”

“He was even funnier in person than I could have even imagined,” said Rickert. “He is a one-man show.”
