The Hopkinton Fire Department on Tuesday morning worked with the Westborough Fire Department to extricate an injured passenger from a truck involved in a crash on Interstate 495 southbound at the mile 54 marker near West Main Street.
The accident involving a black truck occurred at approximately 7 a.m. It sustained heavy damage to the passenger side, a Facebook post from the Hopkinton Firefighters Local 3772 union showed. There was “significant entrapment” that called for emergency teams from both departments to remove the passenger.
WFD contributed rescue and medic personnel to the effort, according to the Facebook post. Off-duty HFD personnel were called in “from home for coverage due to minimum staffing.”
Traffic was delayed for several hours due to the crash.
