Joseph Lozeau Jr.

Joseph A. Lozeau Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “Butch,” passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 83. A resident of Cape Coral, Florida, and formerly of Hopkinton, Joe leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service and love.

Joe was the devoted husband of Joan Marie Lozeau, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they built a close-knit family rooted in faith, compassion and unwavering support for one another. He was the beloved father of six children: Joseph Brian Lozeau and wife Alison Lozeau of Uxbridge, Joanne Lozeau Russell of Powder Springs, Georgia, Brian Richard Lozeau of Powder Springs, Georgia, Jennifer Lynn Gallerani of Whitinsville, Lisa Marie Lozeau of New Haven, Connecticut, and Christopher Francis Lozeau, who preceded him in death on May 14, 2022. Joe also is survived by his brothers, Remi Lozeau and Mark Lozeau, and his sisters, Christine, Helen and Alicia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

One of Joe’s greatest joys in life was being a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren, Melissa, Katie, Ethan, Ben, Daniel, Sam, Abby, Leah, Ethan, Meg, Micaela and Jimmy, and his great-grandchildren, Sydney and Alondra. He took immense pride in each of them and cherished every opportunity to share in their lives, accomplishments and milestones. His love, guidance and encouragement will remain with them always. A proud United States Marine, Joe carried the values of honor, dedication and service throughout his life. He was a respected and familiar presence at St. John the Evangelist Church, where his faith was evident in both word and action. Those who knew Joe admired his intelligence, wit, generosity and willingness to help others without hesitation. He led by example, offering guidance, encouragement and kindness to all who crossed his path. Joe possessed a remarkable intellect and a lifelong love of learning. He was an avid reader, enjoyed challenging himself with crossword puzzles and episodes of “Jeopardy!” and had an extraordinary gift for languages, speaking several fluently. His curiosity about the world never diminished. Above all else, Joe cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved, celebrating their accomplishments and supporting them through life’s challenges. His strength, wisdom and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Joe’s life was a testament to faith, service and the enduring importance of family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life at a funeral Mass on Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hopkinton. A graveside burial service will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Joe to join them in honoring his life, faith and legacy. Services are under the care of Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton.
