Quebec picked up a goal and an assist through the team’s 2-1-1 start to the season, “but her impact goes far beyond the stat sheet,” shared coach Ally Valencia. The last two seasons — both of which ended with state tournament quarterfinal appearances — Quebec stood out at defensive midfield. This season, Quebec shifted to attacking midfield. “What really sets Avery apart is her leadership, drive and work ethic,” Valencia stated. “She’s the type of player who will give you everything she has in the tank and somehow still find more when the game is on the line. She consistently puts the team first, and it’s clear how much her peers look up to and respect her, both as a player and a leader. She leads by example, sets a high standard for those around her and is the kind of teammate everyone hopes to have in their program.”
