Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

Less than five hours before it was to meet and vote on both the educational plan for the fall as well as a new start date of Sept. 16, the Hopkinton School Committee emailed school families Thursday afternoon indicating the meeting would be postponed one week.

MassDOT has moved the bid opening date for Hopkinton’s Main Street Corridor Project back two weeks, to Aug. 25. According to a press release from the town manager’s office, contractors have asked for additional time to fully review and prepare a responsive bid.

Hopkinton High School 2020 graduate Matt Epstein advanced to the final of the Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship golf tournament on Thursday before falling in a sudden-death playoff.

With crowds gathering nightly at the basketball courts outside Hopkinton Middle School, the Parks & Rec Department is reminding residents that basketball games are not yet allowed under the state’s reopening plan. Individuals are allowed to shoot around as long as they adhere to social distance guidelines. Continued close gatherings could lead to the courts being closed.

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts‘ live weekend concert series continue with Racky Thomas tonight and the Metrowest Jazz Project tomorrow. Also tonight is a virtual children’s musical titled “The Show Must Go Online.”
