Town clerk clarifies mail-in ballot deadline after some voters receive wrong information

by | Oct 8, 2020 | News

Town clerk Connor Degan clarified the deadlines for mail-in ballots after indicating that instructions mailed with some of the first round of ballots mistakenly have deadlines from last month’s state primary election.

“Fewer than 200 voters of the more than 5,600 voters who have already requested a ballot by mail would have received these in error,” Degan noted. “Please be assured that this has no effect on your ballots or your ability to vote by mail for the coming November election.”

Degan indicated the correct deadlines for mail-in/absentee ballots are as follows.

For those returning their ballot by drop box or in person, the deadline is 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 (Election Day).

For those returning their ballot via mail from inside the United States, it must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and must be received by the town clerk no later than Nov. 6.

For those returning their ballot via mail from outside the United States, it must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and must be received by the town clerk no later than Nov. 13.
