Ann Marie Doherty

Ann Marie Doherty, 87, of Harwich, and formerly of Holliston, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at Cape Cod Hospital. Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Landry) and Joseph J. Kenney. She was the wife of 63 years to Bernard D. Doherty of Harwich.

   Ann grew up in Hopkinton, earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Framingham State College, and went on to become an elementary school teacher. She taught second grade at Center School in Hopkinton. Ann had a love for her family and took pleasure in visiting the beach any chance she could.

   Besides her husband, Ann is survived by four children, Suzanne Shannahan and her husband, John of Holliston, Karen Shaw and her husband, Jonathan of West Chester, Pa., Bernard D. Doherty Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Framingham, and Michelle Goncalves and her husband, Jaime of Hopkinton. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother, Joseph J. Kenney Jr.

   Visitation was held Nov. 7 at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com. A funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 8 at St. Matthew’s Parish in Southborough. Burial will be held privately with family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601.
