Business Profile: Real estate agent Crystal Shui offers clients interior design skills

by | Jun 3, 2026 | Business, Featured

Bringing both design vision and real estate knowledge to her clients, Crystal Shui focuses on understanding people’s lifestyles as she helps them buy and sell homes. A real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway Commonwealth of Hopkinton since 2024, Shui said, “I’ve always loved homes, design and community. Real estate allows me to use my creativity while helping clients make important life decisions.”

A Hopkinton resident since 2018, Shui, who is originally from China and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, chose to live and work in the community because of her strong connection to the town.

“I appreciate the balance of nature, community and growth in Hopkinton,” said Shui, who raised her son in the town. “It’s a beautiful area with strong community values, and I’m proud to serve its residents.”

Shui noted picking the right community is an important part of real estate.

Crystal Shui of Berkshire Hathaway Commonwealth of Hopkinton, located at 20 Main Street, uses her interior design and real estate skills to help clients buy and sell homes.

“A home is not only about the property — it’s also about the community, schools, people and daily lifestyle. Community shapes how we live and connect,” Shui said, adding she is happy to call Hopkinton her hometown.

A certified interior designer who studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, Shui feels her background is an important asset for buying or selling a home. She said, “Interior design, especially staging, helps clients visualize the potential of a home. Sometimes people only see what a house is today, but I can help them imagine what it could become.”

Shui added, “Our environment affects how we feel every day. Good design is not only about appearance — it’s about creating a space that supports peace, comfort and daily living.”

Shui stated her design aesthetic “is influenced by both Eastern and ancient Greek philosophies, especially that simplicity and authenticity are more important than excess. I believe the best homes feel natural, timeless and emotionally grounding.” She added her design philosophy supports the aims of today’s homebuyers, “who are looking for comfort, flexibility, natural light and spaces that feel emotionally calming. Clients want homes that support their work and family lives.”

Helping people find a supportive environment is the reason Shui became a Realtor. “I enjoy building relationships and helping people negotiate meaningful life transitions. Finding the right home can truly change someone’s daily life,” she said.

To assist her real estate clients, Shui focuses on listening to them carefully and approaching each project personally. She said, “I want my clients to feel supported and comfortable. I try to make the real estate process a calm, personalized experience.”

She also enjoys the rewards of helping find the right property.

“Last week at a house closing, my client was telling me about her plans for the backyard garden and how her children would play there. Seeing her excitement made me genuinely happy,” said Shui. “Moments like that remind me that real estate is not just about houses — it’s about people building their lives and memories.”
