Police: Car strikes Granite Street telephone pole Wednesday evening, closing road

by | Nov 19, 2025 | News, Police & Fire

A car struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Granite Street and Hayden Rowe Street Wednesday evening, causing the road to be closed for several hours while the pole was being replaced, according to a Hopkinton Police Department dispatcher.

The dispatcher said that few details were available in a brief phone interview with the Independent at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night.

“There was a car accident,” said the unnamed dispatcher. “It struck the telephone pole at 5:30, and it broke the pole, so the road was closed.”

She added that Eversource and Verizon crews were at the scene while the pole was being replaced.
