The Department of Public Works notified residents Thursday morning that it was addressing a water main break in the area of Davis Road.
“Our team is working to isolate the issue,” Water-Sewer Manager Jed Fenneuff stated in a notice. He added that residents in the direct vicinity of Davis Road could experience discolored water.
Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released.
Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.
UPDATE, 2:55 p.m.: Fenneuff reported that crews located the water main break on Davis Road.
“To facilitate the necessary repairs, we will temporarily shut off the water main in this area. As a result, residents on Davis Road may experience a temporary loss of water pressure,” he announced. “We are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.”
UPDATE, 5:45 p.m.: Fenneuff announced that the water main break on Davis Road had been repaired and water service was restored. “Residents in the area may experience some water discoloration,” he added. “If this occurs, please run your cold water tap until the water clears.”
